4th Dan - Black Belt

A student applying for Black Belt grading will be tested for improvement in stamina
plus the ability to perform, teach and explain all basic techniques.

 

Kata Enpi, Gankaku
Aiki-Jo Thirty-one count kata, thirteen count pairs, ten kumijo, controlling (jo against grabs and empty hand against jo)
Bokken Basic cuts, six controls, eight directions
Aiki-Budo Form 9. (right hand to collar from behind)
Form 10. (two hands to one wrist)
Form 11. (one hand holding each wrist from the front)
Form 12. (one hand holding each elbow from the front)
Form 13. (one hand holding each shoulder from the front)
Form 14. (one hand holding each wrist from behind)
Form 15. (one hand holding each shoulder from behind)
Form 16. (right arm around the neck from behind)
Exercises 100 push ups (knuckles and fingers as directed)
100 sit ups
100 squats
Essay/Thesis An original essay or thesis on any karate or related topic. Length approx. 2000 words
Grading Credit Points The applicant must have accumulated 15 Grading Credit Points since promotion to 3rd Dan
Other qualifications The applicant must hold Coaching Level 2 Accreditation
The applicant must hold a current First Aid Certificate
Notes: The applicant must be physically fit to perform all techniques
Students will be tested on all previous grading techniques and patterns
